These are just as good if not better than the GE brand filters and are much more economical. The water through these tastes just as good as with the GE brand that came with the unit.

These filters work very well. We use our refrigerator as the primary source of filtered water. As a former chemist, I judged the water quality by its smell and mineral content. The filtered water tastes great. We stopped buying bottled water since we use the filtered water, great for the environment as well. An easy way to tell the mineral content in the water at home (not lab) is the mineral deposit in a water boiler or a coffee maker. If you use tap water to boil water or brew coffee at home, you will see heavy mineral deposit (mainly calcium, magnesium, etc) in the water boiler or coffee maker after a couple of months. If you use the filtered water, the mineral deposit is largely absent. This is a good indicator that the filters have absorbed other chemicals (such as mercury and lead) as well. You don’t need to clean the mineral deposit in the water boiler or coffee maker for a long time.The only difference between this filter and GE filter is price. You only need to pay a fraction of the original GE filter. This one is definitely a good buy for a good value.
